As a qualified teacher with a Masters in Teaching, our founder Nicole Mansfield has spent years studying and witnessing the profound impact that nature-based learning has on children's development.

We believe in the power of outdoor nature play. We wanted to create an environment where children could connect with the natural world, explore freely, and learn through hands-on experiences. This is a place where curiosity, creativity, and resilience flourish!

Our incredibly dedicated team all share the same vision and values. We are dedicated to fostering a nurturing and supportive environment, with all Nature Kindy sessions ran at a 1:5 educator to child ratio, and a maximum of 10 children per session. Our approach is rooted in respect for nature and a deep belief in the benefits of child-led, unstructured outdoor play for healthy childhood development.

Frequently Asked
Questions

Q. What is Nature Kindy? How long does it last?
Nature Kindy is an early childhood program that takes place outdoors, where children learn through play and exploration in the natural environment. It is a holistic approach that fosters creativity, independence, and a connection with nature. Our Nature Kindy play sessions last for 2.5 hours, with parents/guardians dropping off children and picking them up at the conclusion of the nature play session.

Q. What age groups do you cater for?
Our Nature Kindy programs are designed for children aged 3 - 6 years old. We create age-appropriate experiences that support the developmental needs of each child. Due to the lack of nappy changing facilities at our locations, all children are required to be toileting independently.

Q. How much does it cost?
Our 2.5 hour Nature Kindy sessions are $49 per child. You can sign up for a session through our website.

Q. What should my child wear and bring to Nature Kindy?
Children should wear weather-appropriate clothing, including sturdy shoes, hats, sunscreen, and insect repellant. We encourage layers, as the weather can change. Please ensure your child has a waterproof jacket or raincoat, gumboots, and any other items necessary during wet weather. They should bring a small backpack that contains one change of clothes, a drink bottle, and either a piece of fruit, sandwich, or other healthy snack(s). No nuts.

FAQ's Cont.

Q. What if it rains?

We believe that children benefit from experiencing all types of weather! Unless there is a safety concern (e.g., severe weather), our sessions run in all weather. Please ensure your child comes dressed appropriately for wet conditions.

Q. How many children are in each group?

We maintain small group sizes to ensure individualised attention and a safe, supportive environment. The ratio of educators to children is 1:5, with a maximum of 10 children per Nature Kindy session. This allows us to provide quality care and learning experiences.

Q. What do the children do during a typical session?
Nature Kindy is filled with opportunities for children to explore, create, and engage in nature-based activities. Activities may include outdoor play, storytelling, nature walks, building, arts and crafts, and collaborative games. The session is child-led, shaped by the children's interests, and guided by our teachers' and educators' observations.

Q. Can I stay with my child during the session?
Our program is designed for children to engage independently with their peers and educators. While we understand that it might be hard for some children to say goodbye, we encourage parents and caregivers to allow their children to participate independently in the program. If it was a tough goodbye we can keep you updated on your child’s well-being.
